Still don’t have good cell service but the power is back on so the wifi and cable are too but still can’t really make or receive calls. Thankful my family is safe but sad to find out of all the deaths (so far) and destruction. Just awful.
Hurricane Ian is the first major hurricane I have lived through and not evacuated the state for… can’t believe it’s now moving through South Carolina. Left home to my parents to be with my grandma who also went there and we were without power for a couple days but managed OK.
BREAKING: Hurricane #Ian is now a Category 4 storm, according to the NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center.
With wind speeds of 140 mph, this storm is "extremely dangerous."
@OneCopaceticCAT @NHC_Atlantic Not far from it. Reach out to them in the morning! May hit land as a cat 4 by early/mid afternoon tomorrow. Sarasota/Venice area

HURRICANE IAN LATEST: https://t.co/Hq7QltOriG
• Expected to strengthen into Cat 4 storm with 140 winds on Tuesday
• Hurricane warning issued for Tampa Bay and nearby coastal areas
• "Danger of life-threatening storm surge along much
of the Florida west coast," NHC says
This will be my 2nd hurricane experience except in ‘18 with Irma we evacuated to Georgia. I worry this storm will be worse. That we’ll lose power. And my son will be scared. Time to make more detailed plans.
Today is my wonderful son Benjamin’s 3rd birthday. I love you SO MUCH!! Unfortunately though #HurricaneIan is approaching & we live super close to the Gulf Coast. Hoping this doesn’t get worse and nothing bad happens to our homes and anyone who lives in an evacuation zone!
Really unsure of everything I should do to prepare today. Had thought about going to my parents’ house where my grandma, sister & BIL are because their house is strong & they have a generator, lots of supplies. But they’re in evac zone B (closer to coast). I don’t know. Ugh
9/27 8am ET UPDATE: There is a danger of life-threatening storm surge along the Florida west coast where a storm surge warning has been issued, w/ the highest risk from Fort Myers to the Tampa Bay region. Listen to local officials and check https://t.co/0BMJEA5Wz0 for updates!
@BidenfanJoe @Evelyn_Club@NHC_Atlantic I agree he’s a bad man, but this likely won’t effect DeSantis one bit. People love him here and are not going to blame a hurricane on him no matter what he does… people living here from all walks of life will endure hardships though. So please don’t hope things get bad.
@BidenfanJoe @NHC_Atlantic Today is my sons birthday too. He’s 3 today & has never experienced a hurricane or major tropical storm before. I’m also not a native Floridian & left with my parents to Georgia when Irma hit this same area back in ‘18. I really hope this one isn’t worse, wherever it hits hardest
@BidenfanJoe @NHC_Atlantic Listen I can’t stand DeSantis either but this isn’t about one person. I live on the gulf coast and this is super scary for everyone living here. I am thankfully not in evac zone A (the zones that need to prepare the most) but very close. A lot of people live here. Many elderly.
@FastCowboy75@NHC_Atlantic I mean… you could but why? It’s still going to be tropical storm like weather. I guess keep an eye on things but if it’s not a necessary trip and you can get your trip refunded I would not. Tampa is probably going to get hit very hard and it’s not far away.
I watched the HBO doc previously (about 90min). Of course I knew about #Woodstock99 but hearing accounts & seeing footage was wild. Hearing a story of someone who died there. It was well done but the Netflix limited series is better & much more thorough (3 episodes). Check it out
You want to think people can’t truly be SO delusional, unaccountable, completely remorseless, etc, then you see the Netflix Woodstock ‘99 doc I’ve done some dumb/bad shit in the past—but I can own it all, and if you haven’t get a hold of me & I’ll apologize. Some people cannot.
So they revolted against the staff, promoters.. basically anyone. They were dehydrated, sooo many people got injured, people were sexually assaulted or raped. The “free water”, when available, was literally contaminated with SHIT. It was total chaos. Wtf did anyone expect? Peace?
