Whoever convinced us in this day and age that working 9-5 5 days a week is the correct thing to do is the devil incarnate. That's not balanced no matter how you cut it, and it's no longer required. The sooner we realise and adjust accordingly, the better
Honestly, work days should either by 4 days a week or 10-3/9-2. As a society we've moved away from the absolute need for such long workdays and there are studies showing how productivity drops off after certain amounts of time so why aren't we adjusting accordingly?
The 9-to-5 system should be completely abolished. Workdays should be 10-3 or 9-2. There’s no reason people should spend most of their lives at work. Let people go home and have time for their families, partners, friends, and rest. This is why so many people hate their jobs.
Obviously not every industry needs to work like this and rotas can be adjusted accordingly to still offer services properly across the entire week, but many jobs (particularly office-based ones) really don't need to be 9-5 Monday to Friday anymore
in the UK you’ll notice this obsession with proximity to success. Anyone with a bit of clout is somehow “their mate”, but when it comes to actually championing people, the energy gets very strange
@PlayStation PLEASE port more of the Time Crisis games to the PS5! It's been an absolute JOY reliving my childhood playing Time Crisis again, so I'd LOVE the chance to play the rest of the games on the PS5!
Fair play to him. It's crazy to me that people can just grow that much hair out their moustache. I literally am incapable of doing the same no matter how much I tried, but I'd hate the process anyway
Have you been to London...? I've literally NEVER heard anybody call London tiny in my entire life. This must be ragebait so congrats, you got me, because no way you actually believe London is tiny. If you do, try walking from one end to the other and lemme know how that goes
Walk into any UK office at 3pm on a Friday and you'll see something that's quietly become normal.
Most desks are empty. The ones that aren't have someone leaning back, scrolling on their phone, or staring at a single email they've been 'working on' since 2pm.
The few people actually doing work are doing it slowly enough that it could have been finished in 20 minutes if anyone was actually paying attention.
The boss is in their office on a personal call, or out at a long lunch, or working from home so they don't have to see it.
This is what the average UK office costs the average UK business — about 12 paid working hours a week that nobody is actually doing anything meaningful in.
The 4-day work week conversation has nothing to do with whether the work fits into 4 days. Most people are already doing it in 3, and nobody at the top wants to admit it out loud.
