Akira (1988) is cyberpunk cinema carved in neon. Katsuhiro Otomo pushed animation to the brink, over 160,000 hand-drawn cels and unusually detailed mouth movements timed before the voice recording, a rarity in anime. Every frame hums with dystopian energy
“Just Can't Get Enough” was written by Vince Clarke and became one of the defining songs of Depeche Mode's early synth-pop era. Released in September 1981, the song was recorded at Blackwing Studios in London and became the band's first Top 10 hit on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at No. 8. This particular performance comes from the BBC children's programme Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, featuring the band's original four-member lineup: Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke.
The song was also the final Depeche Mode single written by Clarke, who left the band later that month. Just a few weeks after this Swap Shop appearance, Clarke's final performance with Depeche Mode took place on December 3, 1981.

I came across a 3-minute video of North Korea. Fascinating: clean, calm, modern.
I really want to go there one day. It's one of the few places that globalism hasn't touched yet. No Chanel stores, Starbucks or McDonalds on every corner.
When the entire world looks the same and every city center has the same stores selling the same things, maybe the places that are isolated are just the last ones standing.
On a side note, I’m really glad we renamed our McDonald’s. Vkusno i Tochka forevaaaa 😅

"For years and years I never had a job, or any money. Consequently I never had any clothes whatsoever. I found that on those very rare occasions when I did get invited anywhere I would constantly sit down and say, 'Good heavens, I couldn't possibly go to this place tonight because I don't have any clothes, I don't have any shoes.' So I'd miss out on all those foul parties. It was really quite a blessing in disguise."
