@Jeddy017@ClawsFurHire The show can neatly be divided in 3:
- Pilot - Ep 3 = establishment of setting and associated existential dread
- Ep 4 - 6 = exploration of characters’ inner personalities and mental health. Most character development occurs here.
- Ep 7-9 = conclusion of arcs + final resolution
@claudispock Some 60s media is seemingly misogynistic but upon closer inspection can actually be interpreted as a deconstruction of such attitudes. I Dream of Jeannie is a prime example; protagonist seemingly serves her ‘master’ but actually has total control over his life and not vice versa
Genuinely recommend shows like Bewitched and Frasier for this, since they actually use saturated and vibrant colours to make the actors visually pop. As someone who also sticks mainly to cartoons live action stuff like that is still highly enjoyable to watch.
@AnnoyedJax@BISEXUALPOMNI I must have missed that since I haven’t seen the English version yet lol. I think though that would trouble the notion that abstraction is an allegory for taking one’s life
@Aqui_Waybright Completely agree, it is still an amazing episode. Imho nothing hits harder than Agony of a Witch and that was the episode that really got to me.
@DaBigChillSFW Most Aussies are either really into sport or Love Island with no in between lol being a fan of animation (especially indie) is like being an isolated sleeper agent with no mission
@Mimizzz8 I kind of see it since he’s lowkey making a ‘you look stupid’ expression here and the sigh right after just sounds like someone giving up on a prank halfway
