There is a doctor that just recently lost his life.
He graduated from DELSU in 2024.
He asked to be released because he was ill.
He had to wait three weeks. Three weeks.
He got home on 26th June.
He died 29th.
This is exactly why I will never blame any healthcare professional who chooses to leave Nigeria.
You cannot keep asking people to sacrifice their health, their peace, and sometimes even their lives for a system that barely remembers they exist.
To every healthcare worker reading this: your patients need you, but you also need yourself. Prioritize your health. Rest when you're ill.
Hospitals will replace you. Your family never will.
Fly high, Dr. Wisdom Oghenetega 🤍
What was your father's profession?
Thomas Shelby: "Well, he told fortunes, and he stole horses. Often, he would tell a man that his horse would be stolen, and they would marvel at his powers when it was."
😭
It's not a fair assessment. Student A gets a malaria case while Student B meets an uncooperative patient with a retinoblastoma case.
Student A presents to everyone's favourite lecturer while Student B presents to the most malignant Prof. in the faculty.
OSCE >>>> Longcase
In a sane country, all those idiots involved in delaying his exeat would be sentenced to life imprisonment.
But we're in Nigeria.
Where the abnormal is normal.
I have never heard that a nurse slumped and died due to work related stress?
A nurse works an average of 15 days in a month, gets 15 days off, and never work 24hrs during work days(I have never seen)
They designed a system that prioritised safety for both the nurse and patient, unfortunately same cannot be said for doctors.
Whenever a healthcare worker die from stress, there is a 99.9% chances that the person is a doctor.
Until work hours are regulated many doctors who want to be 100% obedient will face the ultimate punishment, which is death.
