A tiny detail of an upcoming piece from that series of Mesoamerican inspired fantasy landscapes
Bonus points for those who know where that bat sculpture comes from

This is Tlaloc, Nahua Rain God (a.k.a Dzahui in Mixtec, Cocijo in Zapotec, Chaak among the Maya). The Sun of the Nahui Quiahuitl ("4 Rain") era, which ended w/ a rain of fire.
From the comic book adaptation of the legend of the five suns I've worked on 4 years ago

Pachakuti — animated mixed media illustration made in 2022, exhibited at NYC in 2023
Did you know where the name for the hurricane comes from?
Hun Raq'An, literally "1 leg" in K'iché, a Maya language from Guatemala. The name of a god associated with the sky, time and the creation of the world.
Possibly derived from the older Mesoamerican deity known as K'awiil.

This is Cipactli, the Primordial Crocodile from traditional Nahua cosmology.
Adorned w/ extra mouths on her limbs, she prevented the gods from creating anything over the primordial waters' surface, until her capture - when Tezcatlipoca sacrificed his foot as bait.
Tezcatlipoca, Tonatiuh, Quetzalcoatl, Tlaloc, Tlazolteotl / Ixcuinán, Huitzilopochtli and Xochiquetzal.
Deified ancestors reinterpreted in contemporary attire. #aztec#mexica
