Jeff Bezos reveals why compromise is one of the worst ways to resolve a disagreement
"An example of a really bad way of coming to agreement is compromise. If I say the ceiling is 11 feet and you say 12 feet, we say let's call it 11 and a half. That's compromise"
"The advantage of compromise is it's low energy. But it doesn't lead to truth"
"Another really bad resolution mechanism is who's more stubborn. Two executives disagree, they have a war of attrition, and whichever one gets exhausted first capitulates. You haven't arrived at truth, and this is very demoralizing"
"Escalation is better than a war of attrition. Escalate to your boss and say, we can't agree, we like each other, we're respectful, but we strongly disagree, we need you to make a decision"
"Exhausting the other person is not truth seeking. Compromise is not truth seeking"
@retiredfinished Obviously big difference between them and the bezos and musks but they definitely have this idea idea that being rich from entertainment and sport is completely different to being rich from starting a business.
@retiredfinished Especially bad when he’s essentially made his money providing no value himself to basically any British taxpayers . At least Ratcliffe etc can point to idk how many jobs they’ve created.
This makes no sense but I have so much FOMO for this World Cup, even though I live here.
I wanna be in Greensboro and watch Haaland train. Then I want to go to Chicago and watch Germany. And then England in West Palm.
I want to watch every team all the time, the fever has genuinely taken over me. So excited man.

Me: "Andy Burnham says it is not genocide"
Note: "This is false. What Andy Burnham said is that he refuses to label it a genocide"
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush@NizaarKinsella@BobbyVincentFL From what I understand Grade 4 is a non-medical term for complete rupture basically, or where it pulls away from the bone (that’s what havertz had this season). As I said, I think Chelsea briefed that at a point that they were pressuring Estevao to get surgery.
❗️🇧🇷Estevao: “I had an injury that tore 80% of the biceps of the thigh and the Chelsea doctors wanted me to operate, even the Chelsea owner said he wanted me to operate. But together with my parents, and I always say that it is very important to have the people you love by your side, because it is very difficult to make these decisions alone, because you are surrounded by many pressures and other things, I chose not to have surgery.” [Ge Globo]
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush I agree with this bit. Just remember though how rarely Chelsea players get hamstring surgery, eg, Gittens out for months but didn’t have surgery. Theres a reason it would be recommended. Hopefully no surgical option works out well instead.
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush@NizaarKinsella@BobbyVincentFL I already told you that that would mean going back to the start of the process and he would be out until like October if he then got surgery in mid May.
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush@NizaarKinsella@BobbyVincentFL 1. Why would Chelsea brief grade 4? As I said because they wanted to pressure surgery.
2. 80% is grade 3. Do you think Chelsea doctors would recommend surgery for a grade 2 hamstring injury?😭
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush@NizaarKinsella@BobbyVincentFL Chelsea probably briefed it as a grade 4 because they would really want their 18 year old big asset to get surgery and so made it sound as bad as possible. Also why an owner told him to get surgery probably. Alls seems fairly obvious.
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush@NizaarKinsella@BobbyVincentFL I think it’s fair to say Estevao standing in his church saying he went against Chelsea’s advice but the 80% hamstring tear is healing almost magically quickly is a bit worrying but that’s just me.
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush@NizaarKinsella@BobbyVincentFL Ofc either way the injury is bad and he might have issues after but it is a fact that an 80% tear of the hamstring is usually treated by surgery and that’s what everyone at the club wanted.
@sambrazy@CFC_Bush@NizaarKinsella@BobbyVincentFL I’m not a doctor but this is common sense. Had after a month he needed surgery, he would have been out for 4ish months from the time of surgery. This would only happen if he the injury wasn’t healing etc. *You’re* the one saying the initial medical advice given was wrong!
