The Tigers have signed three-time American League Cy Young and nine-time All-Star RHP Justin Verlander to a one-year contract for the 2026 season.
Welcome home, JV!
Meet Jed Oliver, the #Tigers fan from London traveling 3,500 miles to Comerica Park for the first time — fulfilling a lifelong dream.
His journey began with the 2006 World Series.

The Javier Báez renaissance is one of the coolest stories of the 2025 season. Now hitting .319/.357/.513 with five home runs and 27 RBIs in 34 games. And this walk-off capped a night in which he hit a pair of three-run homers.
FINAL: Tigers 3, Guardians 0
The Tigers are one game from the ALCS, and the Guardians haven’t scored in 20 innings. Detroit used six pitchers to cobble together nine innings and have a 2-1 series lead — and Tarik Skubal on full rest ready to pitch a potential Game 5 if needed.
#TigersStorylines #10: Jim Leyland, and five simple words on August 3rd
The last Tigers manager to take his team to the postseason had his number retired at Comerica Park on August 3rd. In typical ‘Skipper’ fashion, after delivering an emotional speech to the fans, he walked over to the dugout, hugged AJ Hinch, and yelled, “Go get a f**kin win!”
The team listened. They came back from a 2-run deficit in the 9th inning after Leyland’s ceremony on August 3rd, and they finished the year 34-17 after this.
In anticipation of Detroit’s first home MLB playoff game in 10 years, I’m starting a thread of all of the @tigers storylines from the 2024 season to help me keep track of everything that has happened during this insane run.

Starting off (in no particular order) with the hero of the Wild Card Series…⬇️
#TigersStorylines #9: Kirk Gibson, and a phone call from June 5th.
On June 5th, Tigers legend Kirk Gibson called into 97.1 The Ticket, Detroit’s sports radio station, to urge disgruntled fans to be more positive about the team’s future. The Tigers would go on to lose 9-1 that night and finished the month of June with a 10-17 record, and Gibson’s call only seemed to make fans more angry.
But Gibby was right, and the Tigers got hot. Gibby has also done his part to give back to Detroit, as he has started the Kirk Gibson Foundation to raise money for Parkinson’s, and he recently gave away 100 tickets to kids to watch a Skubal start in September.
