4. Think long-term.
Another quote from the book that stuck with me:
“Our future is a compounding asset. The decisions we're making are part of that compound. As we’re writing the story and making the investments, understand that every decision will have a consequence.”
I lost $41K in the stock market, half of which was in Alibaba stock.
This was all I had in 2019.
I had never experienced depression to the point of questioning life's worth, but this situation forced me to reconsider.
It was probably one of the darkest times of my life, but I managed to pull through. You can do it too.
Remember, one misstep does not determine your end destination.
I am where I am now because that was just one of the many losses in my life. But I never let these setbacks deter me from my goal.
Sometimes I lost money. Other times, I lost time, which turned out to be more valuable than any dollar amount.
Today, my company employs over 10 people, providing for their families.
Remember, there's always another opportunity. I not only lost money but also a restaurant. I worked on multiple softwares that never panned out.
I made investments in family members that didn't deliver the work ethic I expected. But I didn't let any of it stop me.
I'm here to keep things real and let you know that not everybody you read about here is a millionaire. I'm not; I'm not even close to becoming one.
But if there's one thing we have in common, it's that I mess up, and I do it pretty often.
Give yourself a pat on the back because only those with strong hearts are the ones unafraid to try again.
