C’est le plus ancien règlement de bibliothèque retrouvé à ce jour. Découvert sur l’agora d’Athènes, il stipule, ciselé dans le marbre :

« Aucun livre ne sera emporté au-dehors, car nous en avons prêté le serment. La bibliothèque sera ouverte de la première heure jusqu'à la sixième. »

📣 Le musée du #Louvre acquiert, pour le département des Arts de Byzance et des chrétientés en Orient, une icône inédite d’Andreas Pavias (1470-1504/1512) représentant sainte Hélène.

L’apparition inopinée d’une nouvelle icône crétoise de qualité datant du 15e siècle est un événement. Si cette icône porte une signature originale, le fait est encore plus remarquable tant il est devenu rare. C’est pourquoi la révélation d’une œuvre conservée en mains privées et totalement inédite d’Andreas Pavias était inespérée.

Fils du prêtre Petros, Andreas Pavias fut l’un des peintres les plus importants de Candie (l’actuelle Héraklion, en Crète) à la fin du 15e siècle. Avant l’apparition de cette œuvre, on ne connaissait que sept icônes portant sa signature, inscrite en grec ou en latin.

The Basilica of San Crisogono is another little-visited Roman church, dedicated to the 3rd century Roman soldier, Chrysogonus of Aquileia, who was martyred during the Great Persecution of Diocletian

It is one of the oldest churches in Rome, established in the early 300s, and the original church is partially preserved in the crypt, along with 8th century frescos

Also present is this mosaic fragment depicting the enthroned Madonna between St James and St Chrysogonus. It's thought to have once been part of a funerary monument, and is attributed to Pietro Cavallini, though considered one of his earlier works
