@W_W_Richardson I done a lot of brain based learning research. I think this is on aspect that we need to insert into the American school system.
We don't teach kids how learning looks or feels. We just throw them into the education system. In Germany they spend time teaching students how tolearn
Little off topic but I can tangent it to mind set. Anyone read The Mind & The Brain by Schwartz and Begley? Good book about how mindset and shape behaviors. #ISDT5369
@missnicks3 I need something in person. These online virtual conferences either put me to sleep or I don't get the creative vibe i get when I can talk to someone in person about their product.
"We rarely create something different until we experience something different" #innovatorsMindset.
This is a beautiful thing when it happens, and I heard the place to go are the conferences. What tech ed conferences are done over the summer that aren't expensive? #ISDT5369
Has anyone else tried starting digital portfolios in their school before? I remember trying last year and got a lot of push back from administrators and parents. They had this mindset that the students should not be so visible online. #ISDT5369
@W_W_Richardson@SolitareJ @BrandtWithNoRem Sometimes I feel like when someone says "it's too much" they also mean "I need more time." Teachers with plenty of planning time tend to be more open and innovative than those who barely get through a day with tons of stuff left unfinished.
@Molly_B_P My strength lies in being observant. I watch a lot of gaming channels, both playing and coding, and incorporate those gamification elements into my classroom. #ISDT5369
@missnicks3 #ISDT5369 Pear Deck is a wonderful tool. I like the google plugins for it. I prefer to use nearpod, just a preference. Does about the same thing. @nearpod
Only downside to those two tools, they work on phones but are much better on a chromebook.

In reality: None
In our dreams: Free tech
What we do to make do: Find what we can use for free and buy what we can afford, and hope the small risk we take pays off.
#isdt5369 Chapter 5. Great points are made with the characteristics of the innovative leader. Did anyone else get the feeling they were reading a improving business admin book from the early 2000s? Those books had good points too, and led to a lot of money being made!
@lawton_ms#ISDT5369 Good questions to start off with. I want to see 1 to 1 student to technology school wide. This can be modeled in the classroom with a super lucky grant! In order to teach those 21st century skills we need the correct tools to teach with.
I noticed after reading Social LEADia, how my students talked to each other online. It seemed their conversations were very shallow and many times no truthful. The anonymity of the internet both hides faces and thoughts it would seem. Anyone else notice this?
I do agree with the Casa-Todd that the best way to implement social media is with a school wide or district wide launch. @W_W_Richardson@Slawdog_Lawdog
@W_W_Richardson@Slawdog_Lawdog Once the tech gets to the point were the digital can duplicate the physical, then yes those soft skills can adapt. For now though they both need to be taught, imo
