$IGV - Notable relative strength in software compared to semis and the rest of tech all week so far. It could still turn into a bear flag if it goes under its 50dma again.
@Muninn No idea where the indexes are heading. Earnings will likely be strong again, so I doubt we will see a 2018 repetition. A choppy, volatile environment for a few weeks is the most likely.
Here's October 2018 price action in the Nasdaq Composite as a counteraction. A quick break of the 50dma led to a test of 200dma and a downtrend for the rest of the year.
One big difference between the October 1999 pullback and October 2026 is that back then there were leaders that just tested their 20EMA during that 10% index correction. The leaders held their ground. Here's QCOM
Probably 0% chance of repeating or even rhyming, but just for historical reference, the Nasdaq Composite had a quick 10% pullback in October 1999, then an inside day followed by a gap up back above 50dma, slight consolidation and then off to the races.
The weakness in tech is spreading to software. $IGV is still above its 50dma, but its relative strength is declining. @MarketSurge#IBDpartner https://t.co/quRg6rBPyw
Remember when crypto and AI were supposed to put $V and $MA out of business? New all-time highs today. More inflation =more nominal spending = more fees, while all the credit risk is in the banks.
Software is notably stronger than semis so far this morning. $IGV found support near its 50dma and went green. Setups like $CRM are looking half-decent.
Just like yesterday, the stocks making new 52-week relative strength highs vs the S&P 500 are defensive healthcare and consumer staples stocks like $ABBV $BIIB $KO etc.
