@AndrewBeckUSA@JamesPanero Love it. His book on clothing was good. A heavy hand (no triple pun intended) but worth reading. Respect for stating his principles.

@rogerkimball Yes we were taught by some loon of a neo-Malthusian. It came to us late in my part of Los Angeles but it was supposed to be all over by 2010.
@realJohnCohen@AndrewBeckUSA quality is so good now comp’d to 90’s when the shoulder anything but natural. & some shirts left something to be desired (reflection of rocky US textiles biz?) Past 15 yrs they’ve made a come back in quality.

@PeterCGrace@JPRESS_1902@patekphillipe Re: the letter with reference to A-Man Hing Cheong, the famed HK tailors: they asked me, too, if I had l “gotten fat”. The first suit I ever had made for me there was my attempt at a copy of the suit in North by Northwest. To my dismay, it didn’t make me look like Cary Grant.
@rogerkimball@BreitbartNews Saw that comment. I couldn’t believe how facile it was. I’ll prob see the film, but imagine having the chutzpah to believe yr film wd challenge the Faith — as if he cd do a better job than Nietzsche, Freud, or Darwin! To quote Clint Eastwood: a man’s gotta know his limitations.
@SWGoldman@tylersyck Yes and, for good or ill (!), it works in LA. Did get a nice English hopsack maybe 8oz a touch or two lighter than the navy and to my aged eyes it works well!
@svincenzi@tylersyck Ah Silver — I’ll have to rethink entire schema now. Not sure how I feel about it - same way I felt about the black Weejun as opposed to brown, I suppose.
