@SarahTheHaider It also helped that they weren't toxic or abusive. They were just emotionally absent. I had to review what parts of their behavior was a problem and what my part was. Then I slowly changed myself and also started to push back on the critical stuff slowly over time. Change is slow

@SarahTheHaider Curiously, I think my relationship with my parents is excellent due in large part to my efforts. I realized from watching self help content that they wouldn't be around forever and wanted to have a better relationship. It took a lot of effort, but I got there in the end.

@jasoncrawford @michael_nielsen It would make sense. I still remember having to call a taxi company to send a car. It was unreliable at the best of times. With taxi apps you can order one and see the price ahead of time.

@markmanson Assuming we do get to a point where people are biologically immortal, I wonder how you would get people to understand what is important in their lives. Being immortal and not distracted by every thing would require a lot of self reflection.

@simonsarris Best advice. I'd say it only makes sense to leave notifications on if you can adjust them to a granular level. Slack is actually quite good at that. I only get notified of important stuff.
