This smile on the face of the child who moves from tent to tent, from one disappointment to another, you won't find it in history books or in the anthems of heroes. In my country, we reclassify feelings, rewrite the truth, and adorn the pages of history with the name of the only people who wept and laughed, and whose voice was heard by no one but themselves.

My country, though it wrongs me, is dear to me, and my people, though they are stingy with me, are noble.
