@gespenstTypeA @extendXr Take 2 steps back and look at the facts as they are. we spend on the extreme low end 3 billion usd on anime/manga we clearly don't mind spending money yet most if not all fan's know how to get it without paying.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@haeseong4968 @ItsGlassPlus1 @su_anko539 @Tats_Gunso Its one of those thing we have ben debating for a long time. the general consensus was its the best way to achieve the outcome we want. that being encouraging creation and spread.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@kinoko_bez @neko_neko_R Some churn in staff is a good thing. But when its the whole team institutional knowledge gets lost and that leads to major issues. The good news is small and medium sized studios are knocking it out of the park.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@Linkers78201166 @CatMakiplays they should quit using ac and antibiotics then if we are so evil they should not risk corruption

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@oisi_gohan777 @LearnedGO11 it's comical that the complain about the same exact law they themself are breaking. Hypocrisy like that makes them unsympathetic victims. And thats if were being polite.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@denji1001 @netakoh_ that is a thing to some extent. Conker's bad fur day is the poster child for comically expensive older used games tends to start at around 20,000 yen

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@BioGenx2b @TheToastie i think of it more as a mean's to an end. i cant think of a better way to incentivize creation.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@ElenaAgain @salieriia @dark_crimson3 after last time it went around a lot of good will went out the window. and some of us were following the logic of obey the law no mater what to its logical end and with the history of 1930/40s in mind you can guess were our our thoughts went

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@Winter_123_123 @diaverik @Yu_min5000 yah piracy is a spectrum including things like old titles that are no longer available. not having the tools to do a proper legal data dump of a vhs tape or game cartridge we own. then there are issues like the old movie Nosferatu (1922). logic and reason tend to be a guide

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@oisi_gohan777 @LearnedGO11 so your in favor of the company's breaking the law when it suits them?

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@ippeiniconico @switchblade363 i have seen way to many company's compel people to train their foreign replacement's. Disney was the first i remember hearing about.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@Winter_123_123 @diaverik @Yu_min5000 no but your company's love to violate the law and ignore the fair use part of copywrite law. So it's is good counter point when the law itself is argued / a good number on this side tend to figure out moral issues by asking ourselves the question of why a lot.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@oisi_gohan777 @LearnedGO11 sony got a slap on the wrist for the root kiting of computers they did back in the day. not to mention all the false dmca claims claims by capcom and nintendo i dont see them being punished

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@Decoy_One2 @pokopokoshogun @AryaTayebi here as with everything opinions will be mixed. most of us that are pro piracy to some degree argued about it a lot back in the day and reasoned it out from first principles.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@taitan2121 @JoePeach1642773 nope this may seem shocking but most of us worked things out from first principles when we were teenagers. we have a prefrence to go through legit chanels. keep asking yourself why and use logic

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@sses125634 @Nyamonana_ZE like Capcom and Nintendo they break the law non stop with false dmca claim's the hypocrisy is absurd

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@32127n @BehnkeRyno @null154890 @alexphobic_ Fair. This is one of those thing's we have arguing about since the printing press. There are no perfect answer's. if i recall one of the major reason's a declines in piracy happened in your country was improved service. It was the same here.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@32127n @BehnkeRyno @null154890 @alexphobic_ protections is gone as to number 4.i know peer to peer sharing (type of transfer) has no money or adverts that's 100% true i know scan/traslation groups would ask for donation to buy more at time's and a few had donation link that became more common after covid and the economy

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@32127n @BehnkeRyno @null154890 @alexphobic_ mind if i ask you do you view copywrite as good and important by itself or as a means to achieve the spread and get the creators paid so they can keep making more?

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@32127n @BehnkeRyno @null154890 @alexphobic_ That i do not have any data on just what i have seen. Note i would love to see the details. Sadly its getting harder to find accurate data on many thing's. i only ever saw hard data on piracy overall not in granular detail the content. 1/2

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@32127n @BehnkeRyno @null154890 @alexphobic_ oops meant to say ask someone who pirates. on steam they bought and never launched do to impulse buying them. heck i rebought a few games do to it being on sale and easy vs just pirating a copy or doing a data dump from the disk.

[masterandy7 @iwanawatch]

@32127n @BehnkeRyno @null154890 @alexphobic_ getting insulted. Piracy used to be more common then buying here. online shopping dvd's being the whole season for 1 price and not 5 episodes iTunes Netflix steam made it easy to go through proper channel's. if you ever want a chuckle someone who does pirate how many game's /
