For all those Poles who tell me I need to do more reading...here is a list of books in my possession.
Bloodlands
The Forgotten Holocaust
Golden Harvest
Golden Harvest and Hearts of Gold.
Story of a Secret State... Karski
Rising '44
The Crime and the Silence.
@j_mckendri45363@AuschwitzMuseum Gaza? But this is about tools to help in the fight against Holocaust denial relating to Auschwitz between 1940 and 1945.
@bookmark732269@AuschwitzMuseum Who told you that 4 million were killed?
The human soap story is a myth. It was widely believed during the war. No Holocaust book states it is fact.
There is evidence lampshades were made of human skin.
None were lies...there was no deliberate deception.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum I would take it even further...in Poland it is not a case of simply ignoring the uncomfortable... It is more a case of denying it. Delsol points out in the same chapter that state interference in history deviates away from fact and leads to dogma.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum Using Delsol as a source has backfired...because the point she is making applies equally to nationalist Poles as it possibly does to members of the French public: ignoring the reality because it is too uncomfortable to accept.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum No it isnt. It's an antisemitic trope used by non Jewish Poles during the war and is still being used as an excuse by Nationalist Poles today.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum I have several books on the Warsaw uprising. Nothing has been hidden here in the West.
I'm sure you can provide a link to Delsol. I am a fluent French reader.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum The attempt to relate the modern German regime to that which ruled in its name over 80 years ago is, a common Polish Nationalist meme.
Poland did indeed resist the Germans and the Soviets. I fail to see your point.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum "Communist ideology found many supporters among jews."
That is an example of "ลปydokomuna" and is a reason for many of the anti Jewish actions that were carried out by "a few" Poles on around 200,000 Polish Jews from 1941 onwards.
It still exists today.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum Extermination centres were built and run by mainly Germans with Ukrainian helpers. No Poles were involved in their use. Their ONLY link to Poland is one of geography: using modern day geography a convenient way of stating where they are.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum "nor are there any now"
So what you are saying is Poland as a nation does not exist. It is still part of Germany.
You do realise that the use of the term. "Poland" here is geographical. It is not political.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum Yet you still won't tell us what you consider to be "a few".
A mere "few" can't account for around 200,000 deaths.
...and the actions of Jews working for the Nazis outside the Warsaw ghetto are well documented. Nobody denies their actions.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum Grabowski and Gross are the bรชtes noires of Polish nationalists. The latter view any criticism of Poles during the brutal Nazi occupation as anti Polish. It isn't.
France has come to terms with its past. Certain Poles , it appears, are decades behind.
@LedwonLeszek@Israel331999389@AuschwitzMuseum I suggest when it comes to Germany and the role of its allies in WW2 you read ANY book on the Holocaust. The roles of Vichy France, Hungary and Hungary and Romania are well documented.
French bookshops are full of works on the Vichy regime. I have several.
