This Eid, call for the immediate release of Bakhtiar, who was forcibly disappeared from Buner in 2010.

His mother, Sahib Zadge’s writ petition against inaction and apathy of the COIED remains pending in the Islamabad High Court and has yet to be fixed for hearing as the Larger Bench broke on 6 March this year.

Acting CJ Dogar (who has seen remarkably quick career progression in spite of general lack of competence) has not felt these cases are important enough to either designate remaining member Judges as Special DB or reconstitute the Bench.

Don’t have words to express my gratitude for this Award, which is dedicated to all those fighting against oppression, tyranny and criminalisation of dissent in Pakistan, in particular two symbols of Baloch and Pashtun resistance, Dr. Mahrang Baloch & Ali Wazir, who remain unjustly and unlawfully incarcerated till date.

I am so deeply honoured and so incredibly fortunate & blessed to have received the Award from Nobel Laureate Maria Ressa who is an inspiration to millions across the globe.

I take this opportunity to reiterate my commitment to fighting alongside all of you for the protection of the right to freedom of expression in Pakistan.
