I am deeply disappointed with the prolonged and unresolved issue I’ve faced with Wakefit.

On 16th August 2024, I purchased a @WakefitCo Napper L Shape Sofa Set (4 Seater + Left Aligned Chaise) with Ottoman under order number ORDER202408OZAX6s, amounting to ₹62,547. The journey since then has been nothing short of a nightmare:

23rd September: Received an incomplete product.
24th September: Returned the product after a carpenter visit and discussions with the @SupportWakefit team.
October: Promised delivery within 30 days. After multiple follow-ups, the sofa was delayed twice and finally delivered on 14th November, again incomplete.
28th November: Carpenter visit confirmed the issue. I requested a refund.
10th December: Product was picked up after a week’s delay, with a promise of refund initiation in 2 days.
21st December: After 11 days of daily follow-ups, I am still waiting for my refund. Wakefit claims technical challenges, but no concrete action has been taken.
This ordeal has caused immense mental trauma over the past 4 months, affecting me and my family. Despite clear proof of my purchase and email records, Wakefit's lack of accountability and repeated delays in resolving this issue have left me helpless.

I urge Wakefit to prioritize this case and process my refund at the earliest. As a customer who has paid for this purchase using a credit card, the financial burden of EMIs and GST, combined with the stress of non-resolution, is unacceptable.

To the wider consumer community, I hope my story raises awareness about the importance of accountability and responsiveness in customer service.

17 years ago, on my graduation day at IIMB, I witnessed an event that inspired me greatly. One that had Mukesh Ambani as the Chief Guest.

Now, 17 years later, IIMB hosts a similar spectacular event to welcome their new batch and I was honoured to attend it as the Chief Guest. I wasn’t expecting it.

Whether you are a supporter of Modi or an opponent of Modi, you have to accept that this kind of rescue operation is unprecedented.

Five people from the Prime Minister's Office were at the spot day and night for 15 days and lived there in the container.

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand was present for three-four hours every day, General VK Singh, Nitin Gadkari and many other ministers used to visit there frequently and review the rescue work.

A special aircraft of the Air Force was sent from Hyderabad and the agar machine was brought from Slovenia. The world's biggest rescue expert was called by a special plane.. To order a special kind of plasma cutter, first the team was sent to Hyderabad, then the plane was sent to America and a special kind of plasma cutter was brought from there.

Four machines and robots and ground penetrating radar were brought from Switzerland by special aircraft.

A helipad and a working runway were also built at the accident site and a vertical oxygen generator plant was installed at the accident site.

Put your hand on your heart and think whether you have ever heard of this rescue operation being conducted in such a quick manner before in history.

Copy Paste may cost TCS 1,750 crores in fines!!

A US Jury has asked TCS to pay $210mn (about 1,750 cr INR) in fines for allegedly accessing code and trade secrets of a competitor in the US. Apparently, TCS employees accessed and shared content of the manual and actual source code of US IT Services company, DXC, in order to help their BANCS team build a competing platform.

Copy pasting content and sharing it over email is a common practice in many IT firms, with most teams unaware of implications of copyright and IP. This case may be a wake up call for IT service companies to educate and train their employees.

On a related note, the client, that TCS was building this platform for, Transamerica, seperately cancelled their $2bn deal with TCS in June 2023.

So no client + a court case to fight.

The 13th Century CE, Indian poet and saint Gyandev created a children's game called Moksha Patam. The British later named it as Snakes and Ladders instead of retaining the original Moksha Patam.

Originally, the game was used as a part of moral instruction to children. The squares in which ladders start were each supposed to stand for a virtue, and those housing the head of a snake were supposed to stand for an evil. The snakes outnumbered the ladders in the original Hindu game. The game was transported to England by the colonial rulers in the latter part of the 19th Century CE, with some modifications.

In the original one, a ‘hundred squares game board’, the 12th square was faith, the 51st square was reliability, the 57th square was generosity, the 76th square was knowledge, and the 78th square was asceticism. These were the squares where the ladders were found and one could move ahead faster.

The 41st square was for disobedience, the 44th square for arrogance, the 49th square for vulgarity, the 52nd square for theft, the 58th square for lying, the 62nd square for drunkenness, the 69th square for debt, the 84th square for anger, the 92nd square for greed, the 95th square for pride, the 73rd square for murder and the 99th square for lust. These were the squares where the snake waited with their mouth open.

The 100th square represented Nirvana or Moksha.The tops of each ladder depicted a God, or one of the various heavens (Kailash, Vaikunth , Brahmalok) and so on. As the game progressed various actions were supposed to take you up and down the board as in life..The game had been interpreted and used as a tool for teaching the effects of good deeds versus bad ones.

The game was popular in ancient India. It was also associated with traditional Sanatan philosophy contrasting karma and kama, or destiny and desire. It emphasized destiny, as opposed to games such as pachisi, which focused on life as a mixture of skill and luck. The underlying ideals of the game inspired a version introduced in Victorian England in 1892.

The modified game was named Snakes and Ladders and stripped of its moral and religious aspects and the number of ladders and snakes were equalized. In 1943, the game was introduced in the US under the name Chutes and Ladders.
