"This voice from the grave urges itself on our hearing. For let no one be in any doubt; the life-and-death discourse of the twenty-first century is unambiguously the discourse of fanaticism and intolerance." - Wole Soyinka, Foreward on Tahar Djaout's "The Last Summer of Reason".
So, while Obidients and the Labour Party chauffeured legislators into public offices, they have no abilities to recall them, if they so desired. Instead, they are shackled to their choices for the next four years. If that is not bondage, tell me what is.
I hope progressives will see the problem with Peter Obi's statement. It is not democratic to enshrine an entire democratic system in any one person. What we need are grassroots movements, capable of holding even the most vile official accountable. https://t.co/T618ypFrQ6

He has completely dropped the ball. He has lost the mark. He has been criminally silent. He may have been compromised. His comments are characteristically UnSoyinka yet they are proudly Soyinka. I weak!
I totally agree. Why is Wole Soyinka so fixated on Peter Obi instead of being fixated on the conduct of the election. When I read (and now watched) his comments, I was just weak. If he has a monitoring organisation like he said, is this the best way to deploy their resources?
“You want to see the police beating? It’s terrible. I’ll show you. You must see it. Look at it. Look my nyash! Right at my nyash, men! Bad! All over my body, men! Top to bottom! They beat the shit out of me. But you see, I didn’t die because my name is Anikulakpo.” - Fela

The language used by @GazetteNGR incites violence against women. In Nigeria, women cannot be ACCUSED of witchcraft. Repeat after me: women cannot be accused of witchcraft!
A police PRO trying to save his job will pass this off as “a few bad eggs”. In reality, the police is characterised by a culture of oppression and impunity. It is top 5 in the Nigerian pecking order.
