Why Can’t Enterprises Just Use ChatGPT?
We know enterprises can use ChatGPT, and many already do. ChatGPT Enterprise supports connections to internal information and administrative controls, while OpenAI does not use business data for model training by default. Deploying AI across a business still requires configuring it around that organization’s systems and responsibilities.
On October 1, OpenAI described Albertsons’ expanding use of ChatGPT Enterprise alongside custom applications built with the OpenAI API.
For a retailer operating more than 2,200 stores, adoption involves integrating AI into employee workflows and customer experiences, then evaluating what works before expanding deployment.
Consider a purchasing manager asking whether a customer order can arrive by Friday. A useful answer needs current inventory and supplier delivery commitments. It must also respect the manager’s access permissions, so confidential contract information does not appear in an answer they are unauthorized to receive.
If the manager then asks AI to change a purchase order, the system needs permission to make that change and must follow the company’s approval process. The business also needs records it can review when something goes wrong.
Enterprise AI has to operate within the same rules that govern the business.
Sible aims to support the infrastructure around enterprise AI. Our architecture addresses different parts of that work:
- Sible Fabric: connects organizational data and maintains its processing history.
- Sible Cortex: supports private models and controlled AI workflows.
- Sible Nexus: connects products through a shared representation of business objects and actions.
- Sible Relay: manages deployment and updates across operating environments.
The goal is to help organizations use AI with their own information while retaining control over its operation. Fabric and Cortex remain planned launches in our published roadmap, with delivery milestones users can follow.
