One of my icks in relationships is bringing up your grievances at the time I’m talking about my grievances. It’s manipulative and it shifts the focus away from my grievances and also waters down how I feel. We can either choose to handle mine first before you can speak about yours or you can wait some other day to talk about it. Funny enough I was once that kind of person and my expectations were for you to overlook what I did because I overlooked what you did and that’s something I had to unlearn.
🚨🔴🔵 BREAKING: Paris Saint-Germain have agreed all terms with Ferran Torres.

I don’t think withholding affection from your partner is always done in bad faith. But if you’ve consciously pulled back, I think the onus is on you to communicate why. The burden shouldn’t be on your partner to guess what changed. That isn’t fair.
Successful marriages don’t work the way people think they do. They aren’t sustained by a constant feeling of ease or by two people who never struggle; they’re sustained by two people who keep choosing each other when life gets heavy.
In marriage, you spend time carrying each other sometimes physically with the practical weight of responsibilities, and sometimes emotionally with patience, forgiveness, and steady presence. There will be seasons when one person is strong and the other is tired, when one is hopeful and the other is unsure, when one can give more and the other can only receive. The work is learning how to trade those roles without keeping score, to communicate honestly, to repair after conflict, and to return again and again to the same commitment: we’re on the same team.
