I told my mom I wasn’t attracted to a guy who liked me and she said, “Just give him a chance.” I asked her why women are always taught to overlook a lack of attraction, when men are usually allowed to simply say “she’s not my type” and move on. She went quiet. So did everyone else at the table.
If you’re in college right now, GET THOSE INTERNSHIPS / APPRENTICESHIPS, GO TO THOSE JOB FAIRS, HAVE A LEADERSHIP ROLE AT YOUR SCHOOL, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH PROFESSORS AND ALUMNI….cause this job market is NUTS and simply having a degree isn’t going to cut it anymore 😭
acabei de me deparar com um tiktok falando que sua relação com você mesmo não pode girar em torno de melhorar. que em algum momento é preciso gostar de quem você é agora ao invés de esperar se tornar outra pessoa pra começar a desfrutar da própria vida.
A girl on TikToķ once said; “This year God grabbed my hand, told me to trust Him, & we just took off running.” & someone commented; “Some days He’s dragging’ me, other days He’s carrying me, but we locked in.” & to be honest… that’s exactly how I feel too. IMMENSELY🙏🏻.
Patriarchy is so deeply rooted that WOMEN can walk into someone else's house as guests and still somehow end up in the kitchen.
While the MEN even from the host family get to sit back, relax, chill, enjoy the food, and talk about how much they sacrifice for their families. 🙄
Some of you don't realize how much of your personality can disappear when you don’t feel emotionally safe around someone. You become quieter. More careful with your words. Less playful, less willing to be seen. Some connections expand you. Others teach you to disappear.
Most men really be doing is teaching you how to love yourself more, not on purpose but every time they play with you, switch up, or show you exactly what you don’t deserve, it forces you to tighten up and choose yourself a little harder. After a while, you stop being impressed by bare minimum energy, because you learned the hard way what it costs to accept it.
I don’t think people fully understand what’s happening. We’re not being priced out of luxury. We’re being priced out of normal. A house, car, Groceries, Childcare, Insurance,These weren’t extravagant expectations 20 years ago.
