Not long ago, being great at UI, branding, or illustration could be enough. Today, that’s just the starting point.

With Figma introducing native motion design, shaders, code layers, and deeper product-building workflows, the expectation is shifting. Designers are no longer just arranging pixels; they’re expected to think in systems, interactions, motion, code, and even production.

The future belongs to designers who can connect disciplines. You now have to understand many things well to do even one thing exceptionally well.

The tools aren’t replacing designers. They’re raising the standard of what being a designer means.

Only the best who keep getting better won’t be bested.
