We report: last days of January, and winter still has a long way to go. We see between scrawny trees the extra hour of daylight that has been earned back, and we really, really cling to it. The wind has a whistling, howling quality that we only hear around this time of the year.
at a time when we’re more isolated from each other than ever, the theatrical experience has never been more important. they may not be perfect, but theaters are some of the few places left that bring people of all walks of life together to escape whatever we endure in the day-to-day and allow us to laugh as one, cry as one, feel as one, and belong to something bigger than ourselves. even if you’re there alone, you’re never truly alone.
theaters are an essential cornerstone of every community, and i shudder to think of a future without them - one where the sadness and division that already corrupts our culture has increased tenfold and further eroded our empathy. the erasure of the theatrical experience isn’t just anti-art, it’s anti-humanity.
We report in late light: late August, and we are losing the sun faster. If only for that reason, the nights are not quite as warm when the darkness lingers for longer. The ground is covered in leaves fallen too soon, and our steps lift dust off the path; the season is turning.
@lenturmelantur These are the things that you need to fight to hold onto: Stay curious, stay tender (so hard to do), be humble and don't get bitter. Stay flexible and resilient. And remember that you might be the only one that can say the thing, solve the problem, or invent the tool.
We report cumulonimbus capillatus incus, one iteration out of many these past few days. It rains, all the time, in a different way every time. The clouds stretch out on all the layers of the atmosphere, blinding white, frayed, watery grey, set, dusty blue, fuzzy, gossamer thin.
If you haven't heard from me in a minute, it's partly because I was Associate Producer on this film for most of last year! ✈️
