I have a theory about this.

we’re inherently made to give our all for someone or for the “greater good”.

When he says, “We’re gonna give everything to make sure Messi wins the World Cup again,”

It’s not even about him. It’s about giving his all so that his idol, and greatest player in history can become more greater. This is one of the most powerful motivators in us.

Anyone who accomplishes anything truly worthwhile usually does it for something beyond themselves.

A parent sacrifices for their children. A soldier fights for their country.

For example, I want to become the most successful version of myself for the sake of my family. That purpose pulls more out of me than chasing success for myself ever could.

The devil’s first trick is to make you selfish. Because the moment life becomes all about you, your comfort, your status, your happiness, you’ll always find a reason to settle for less than you’re capable of.

The greatest achievements are borne from devotion to something greater than yourself.
