I ❤️ (car-free) #Paris!
Starting Nov. 4, 2024, the 5.5 km2 heart of Paris will be closed to through traffic. (Buses, taxis, ambulances, residents' cars will still have access.)
Opponents claim it will make life hell.
Here's what hell looks like, according to them:

Paris is moving fast to make nicer, greener and healthier places; showing cities around the world that it’s possible with political will.
If you can do it in Paris, you can do it anywhere.
THIS JUST IN:
Car ban begins in the center of #Paris.
Starting on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024: no through-traffic will be allowed in four central arrondissements on the Right Bank. (Home to the Louvre, Notre-Dame, and the Marais).
This is a big deal.

Today the government and I have announced exciting new plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street.
These plans will transform the experience of Londoners and tourists visiting the world-famous high street. We’re determined to create one of the finest public spaces in the world.
Pariz rastura. 💪🏾 🚀
Divnota. 🚲
No more cars on the Iena bridge, the decree has been published today. For my foreign readers, let's say it's quite something and it's a bit like the Rivoli change when it happened: even if you follow closely that kind of news, you didn't expect it to happen that fast.
One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen was filled with cars until a 2 year pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.
