Dr. Abdi Salat Noor, a consultant physician at Garissa County Referral Hospital and head of the Department of Education and Research, has warned against the misuse of steroids.
He said prolonged and unregulated use can disrupt the normal function of the adrenal glands and lead to serious health complications.
Dr. Abdi explained that the misuse of steroids, commonly known as the “Qarxis phenomenon, can cause hormonal imbalance, weakened immunity and other long-term health effects.
He urged members of the public to seek medical advice before using such medications.

Today marks a new dawn for BurAbor and its surroundings.
After consistent follow-up with Safaricom, the BurAbor mast is finally operational, bringing reliable network coverage to BurAbor, Bella, Bulla Haji, Fiqow, and nearby areas in Mandera East Constituency .
For years, residents walked long distances under the scorching sun searching for a faint signal but today that struggle is over.
This development will greatly benefit residents, particularly in Khalalio Sub-County, by enhancing communication and access to essential network services. It connects families, boosts local trade, and opens new opportunities for growth and development.
I remain committed to advocating for our people and ensuring continued progress for our community.
