in general, never trust anything that messes with your cholinergic system for anything other than short-term relief. long-term use of basically all anticholinergics massively increases your risk of Alzheimer's.
also, while the long-term effects of Z-drugs ("nonbenzodiazepine hypnotics") like Ambien still aren't super well known, afaik they probably won't kill you. stay the hell away from diphenhydramine (benadryl, Zquil, etc.) though. that stuff absolutely will give you brain damage
