World Tourism Day- looking forward to welcoming delegates to the NITA Conference @TitanicBelfast. Themes-People, Planet & Prosperity. Presenting @GrantThorntonUK report 'Valuing Tourism in NI', joint Skills Plan with HATS & keynotes from @jaynecbrady@HilaryMcGrady#NITAConf2023
Great to see @ClaireHanna raising issue of ETA at #PMQs. Overseas tourists account for almost 25% of total visitor spend in NI with the majority travelling across the land border. Whether coming to stay overnight, spend a day or 2 hrs every non-visa national will require an ETA
Thanks @ClaireHannah for continuing to raise ETA. Disappointing to see confusion with NI protocol. Two separate issues & must be treated as such. Hope to meet @robertjenrick in the coming weeks to find a workable solution& provide certainty to NI's tourists& tourism economy.
Good to see @StephenFarryMP noting the need for an ETA exemption for RoI residents and tourists. Any barrier hampering movement of tourists into NI would be a devastating blow to our tourism economy.
Interesting article by @freymcc on the proposed introduction of an ETA. So many details of this legislation are still unclear and concerning for the tourism industry in NI. Pushing for enhanced engagement from @ukhomeoffice to find a workable solution
