1. Relationships with court staff are very essential. Registrars, clerks, bailiffs, heck even mi lords orderlies.

2. Filing and Service are a whole topic on their own that should be discussed at least in law school. For eg the required number of copies to provide when filing at the Supreme Court, the need to always have an “acknowledgment copy” in addition to service copies. Law office management in the law school does not cover these nitty gritties.

3. Behavior in court for eg if you have to leave the court whilst it’s in session, you must bow to mi lord before leaving and bow as you return, if your case is called early and you’re leaving, do not remove your wig and gown until you’re outside the court room, endorsement of the cause list is essential (and at courts like the Supreme Court you must endorse all cause lists not just one).

4. Partnership with other lawyers and referring other lawyers is one of the fastest ways to get work. You don’t need to hoard every brief. Share with your guys you know are competent in that field or are in that jurisdiction.
