Our VSLA program has become such a valuable way to continue to impact communities. After restoring wells, its a pleasure to come back with our VSLA trainers to help those who are interested begin to save and plan for the future they want to pursue!
The Deede well was built by Ignite Worship at FUMC Grand Prairie. This well serves over 1800 people across five villages in the Butebo district of Uganda, as well as two neighboring schools with a combined enrollment of over 950 students.
Well #313, called the Agoloi Well, is now complete and serving over 1300 PEOPLE who previously had to commute over 2.5 km to access their nearest water source. This well, built in honor of Bob Lane, serves two villages as well as a local primary school with 450 students.
Today we honor AnnaBeth Lane by sharing her springbox well, built to serve the 800+ people in the Kayoga village area, as well as the young students who attend Kabelai primary school (where they have over 870 students!) Thank you for this fresh source of #cleanwater! #uganda
The Atirir Well, the FIFTH well built for Leonard Alexander, is complete! We are so excited to be able to serve the village of Akalabai, a community of over 900 people, in addition to the Hillary Storm Nursery and Primary School, where 470 students now have access to clean water.
Did you know safe drinking water is a human right? It was "recognized by the UN General Assembly and the Human Rights Council as part of binding international law in 2010."
It's incredible to be part of an international movement working to resolve the #globalwatercrisis.
As of today, we've raised $10,307 dollars for our Camron Stotts legacy wells. So incredible. If you'd like to take us the rest of the way to our goal of $13,100, it's not too late to donate: https://t.co/0cmEnI5cdP
"But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
We're thankful for this mission, and the literal way we get to be a picture of this verse.
It has been so great to have stateside members of our John 4:14 team in Uganda this month!! Please be in prayer for the remainder of our ED's trip and for all the ways we can continue to share the hope of the Gospel to our brothers and sisters in the communities we serve.
Today is #WorldWaterDay. 80% of those who have to use unsafe water sources live in rural areas, like those we serve (UN statistic). We're helping to change those numbers, and #leavingnoonebehind.
You all continue to make that possible. Learn more at https://t.co/v04OQ3LlGE
In addition to access to uncontaminated drinking water, a local clean water source also gives back the gift of TIME. Hours spent collecting water can now go toward other goals - education, small business, pursuing dreams. Thank you! You're meeting basic needs - and so much more.
Without protection from contamination, disease-causing germs from water are responsible for many cases of Trachoma, Typhoid and Dysentery in Uganda. Wells like this one, built to honor Johnie Lou “Memaw” Herrley, mean health and hope for the future in the communities we serve.
The Namusita Well serves more than 700 people in the villages of Kadimukoli and Katira. Built for Jack K. Greene Sr., this well means that community members no longer have to travel more than 2 kilometers each way to collect water from a contaminated source. Today, we honor Jack.
“We love because He first loved us.” Well #6 - called the Omolokonyo Well - for Kelsi Messick is complete! Thanks for joining John 4:14 in showing love to this community of 2900+ people.
Built in loving memory of Jeanetta Brown (known affectionately as Granny B) the Oput well serves more than 3000 people across 4 villages and 3 local schools. We’re so excited to be able to provide easy, local access to this uncontaminated source of water. #cleanwater#supersized
The Poloto Well is is the NINTH #LenasLegacy well built for Lena Jean Bilbrey. Thanks to Rhonda Bilbrey and loved ones, another 3200+ people (across 3 villages and a local trade center) now have access to an uncontaminated water source. What a blessing! #cleanwater
“Above all else, love one another deeply.” Mary Catherine Lane's clean water well now serves over 3000 people in the Bulocho village, as well as two neighboring schools. Thanks for sharing your love through the precious gift of uncontaminated water for this community! #cleanwater
The Apeleun Well provides clean water for about 2400 people who previously had to walk over 2 km to their nearest water source, which was subject to contamination. The well also serves 2 schools with over 2000 students between the two. Thanks to Leonard Alexander's family!!
