I'm very concerned about the abduction from Entebbe Airport and enforced disappearance, by security operatives, of Mr. Robert Lugya Kayingo, a lawyer and the leader of the Uganda Federal Alliance political party. It's even more concerning that the very people who abducted him over two weeks ago now claim to not have him in their custody.

I stand in full solidarity with Mr. Kayingo’s family and join them in demanding for his immediate release. We must firmly resist the normalization of these abductions and hold the regime accountable. It is day 11, where is Robert Lugya Kayingo? He arrived at Entebbe Airport on the morning of July 17th. His family was there to pick him up. He called them when he landed and called them again 26 mins later to tell them he has been detained, but he asked them to wait for him. He thought he would be out in a few minutes. Several minutes later he called and told them it seems his detainees are serious and won’t let him go soon. That’s the last time they heard from him. Subsequent calls went unanswered. No word about who is holding him, where or what for!

He informed his sister that immigration had held him but assured her he would be released soon. However, airport security gave his sister conflicting information throughout the day and eventually told her to go home in the evening. The family is deeply concerned about his safety.
