This is what we know about Robert Kayingo Lugya thus far.

He was abducted on July 17 at Entebbe Airport. As he returned to bury of his uncle. His sister was in touch with him, until she received a message from him that he had been detained at the airport. That was the last she had from him.

His sister tried to register a missing person's case with @PoliceUg, she says police told her "we have him, so he is not missing". On August 4, the High Court granted his habeas corpus application. Three days later, CDIS - formerly CMI - denied having him in their detention. The Attorney General was given until today - 13 August - to check with other security agencies and make a report. The court declined an order to review Entebbe CCTV footages saying it would grant the order after today if he was not found.

Yesterday, he returned to South Africa. Now it turns out he was picked at Entebbe and held incommunicado at a place he believes was a facility at Nkumba in Entebbe. Yesterday, he was driven to the Airport, whisked into the VIP lounge where he waited for some minutes, then handed a ticket and driven - on the tarmac - to a South African bound aeroplane basically, he deported to his second country.

He is now back home with his family in South Africa. He will probably tell his story in the coming days, but for now we are happy that he is alive, and back with his family. Whatever happened to him shouldn't have happened, and it goes to show how the Ugandan regime is moving further away from being pro-people, to something many have to dread. Sadly!

Today was the deadline given by Court to security agencies to comply with the writ of habeas corpus that was granted on Monday 4th Jan. Now CDIS, formerly CMI says it doesn’t have Robert. Let’s wait for what other security agencies say but I am afraid that’s how the loved ones of Kibalama and Ddamulira have looked for them for the last 6 years now. Can we all demand for #FreeKayingo before it’s too late🙏🙏

New twist, the security agencies now claim they don’t have Robert Lugya Kayingo who was detained and later disappeared at Entebbe International Airport. The officials there; Immigration, CIA and Police told hos family the day he was detained that he was in the hands of government security and therefore they should go home and wait for when they release him. It is two weeks today and he’s never been released or produced in court on any charge.

Today, 14 days since he was abducted at Entebbe Airport, the lawyers & family of Mr Robert Kayingo returned to court for a ruling on his habeas corpus. The court didn't make a pronouncement, it instead asked them to return on Monday.

That is, a Ugandan has been missing for two weeks straight; his lawyers, family, and friends can't tell where he is - that is if he is still alive - and @PoliceUg won't register him as a missing person since they said 'he is not missing, we have him', but the court can't expedite its pronouncement on the issue and after asking for a week, has now asked for FOUR MORE DAYS!

It’s unbelievable that the @JudiciaryUG doesn’t take this as a serious, urgent matter. The family made a habeas corpus application over a week ago, they were first told the Courts are on vacation.. even the certificate of urgency hasn’t helped because the ruling on the application that was supposed to be delivered today has been deferred to Monday 4th August. #WhereIsRobertKayingo

While the law says anyone suspected of committing a crime can be legally detained for up to 48 hours, Robert Lugya Kayingo has now been missing for close to 288 hours since he was abducted by state operatives at Entebbe Airport!

His family & friends don't know his whereabouts, his lawyers have not accessed him - and the court instead, ridiculously, adjourned his habeaus corpus filed on Monday last week to August 4; a whole 14 days!
