Webbon is no more faithful to the biblical text than most liberals. He gives a brief nod to the story of the Syrophoenician woman—but then uses one small part of that account as a launching pad to justify his ethnological jingoism. It's a rant, not a sermon.

What is the gospel?

The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ.

All men are sinners, and as sinners, we deserve eternal condemnation before a holy, righteous, and just God.

@JustineBateman In my case, I preach verse by verse through different books of the Bible, breaking from it only in cases when I believe a topical message is needed.

Either way, any pastor who is not putting together their own sermons for the flock should probably not be serving as pastors.

The "mental health crisis" is largely a sin crisis.

Sin is a spiritual issue.

Secular psychology does not recognize the reality of sin, the need for repentance, or the sovereignty of God.

This is why we lean upon the Word of God for all matters of spiritual living.
