I take this opportunity to thank delegates of the Organization of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Parliamentary Assembly for electing me as the President of the Assembly and Co-President of the OACPS – European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly for the next two years.
This is a vote of confidence not only in the Parliament of Uganda but in the government and country as a whole.
In a special way, I want to thank the Rt. Hon. Speaker of @Parliament_Ug@AnitahAmong for nominating me. Without your support, i would never have realised this dream.
Special thanks go to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda @KagutaMuseveni for all the support he rendered towards my candidature, which was critical for us to realise this dream. I promise to raise our flag high.
During my presidency, I will focus on the implementation of the Samoa Agreement, which is the major operating legal framework between OACPS and the European Union. I will put special emphasis on the promotion of trade between the EU and ACP countries through the removal of non-tariff barriers; peace and security, promotion of social and human development, equality and social cohesion, climate change, and immigration.
Working together, we shall create a better world for all.

Leaders who are beholden to a select few are less likely to be accountable to the wider public, leading to policies that serve the few rather than addressing the needs of the many.
Leaders who owe their position to a select group are more likely to erode democratic institutions, as they seek to maintain power by weakening the systems designed to hold them accountable.
It’s a humbling thought how swiftly time can fade individual legacies. While we often seek to leave our mark, the truth is that history continues regardless, and many will be forgotten.
Governments that cling to power become disconnected and resistant to change. Fresh leadership brings new ideas, while a healthy democratic process ensures diverse voices are heard and power is renewed.
Forcing leaders without genuine support to believe they have backing can create a false sense of legitimacy. This disconnect can lead to ineffective governance, increased dissent, and potential instability.
