The Beacon of Maracaibo or Catatumbo Lightning occurs where the Catatumbo River meets Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela. There is an average of 260 storm days per year with thousands of flashes of lightning spanning over hours. The lightning is so bright it can be seen 250 miles away.
