🗣️ 20 Years of Glazer Ownership: A Legacy of Ruin

May 2005 marked one of the darkest days in the history of Manchester United Football Club. The Glazer family became majority shareholders, triggering a compulsory takeover that was completed on 29th June 2005.

That moment signalled the beginning of the end for the soul and community of our once-great club — sacrificed at the altar of corporate greed.

Sir Alex Ferguson, a staunch supporter of the Glazers then and now, masked the damage with unprecedented success on the pitch. Since his retirement, the rot beneath has been laid bare for all to see — the true cost of 20 years of financial exploitation and mismanagement.

👉Our fanbase is fractured and divided (down to Glazer greed and betrayal)
👉Our stadium neglected (down to Glazer greed and betrayal)

Hundreds of millions have been siphoned off to service that debt — not by the Glazers, but by our club.

All while the Glazers continue to pocket dividends, year after year, regardless of failure on the pitch.

Old Trafford, once the Theatre of Dreams, is crumbling from decades of neglect.

They have taken everything. They have stolen it all

Now, even Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival has come at the cost of hundreds of jobs, further punishing a fanbase already suffering under the Glazers’ reign. Lifelong, loyal supporters are being driven away from the club they love — priced out and pushed aside. Another dagger in the heart of our footballing community, club moral in the gutter. It’s never been worse.

Make no mistake — this is the legacy of the Glazer family: greed, decay, and betrayal.

Our final home game of the season is against Aston Villa.

We stand together as a generation have done before us.
To make it clear: 20 years on, the fire still 🔥burns🔥 Red — with fury and defiance.

We are at that crossroads again, 20 years ago media, government, ruling bodies and a lot of fans stood by and watched it happen. History is repeating itself, we are sleepwalking into the abyss again with the ownership, fans being trampled on and a stadium being pushed through for all reasons other than football and community heritage.

The game is being stolen from under our feet, the heart and soul being ripped out of every club, look around, look at other clubs now waking up to what United fans have known all along.

We will do our part to stop this, will you do the same?

PSG bought Manuel Ugarte for €60m last year. He evidently doesn’t fit their system (hence why they want to sell) yet are still asking for the same price if he leaves from Man Utd.

PSG have just signed Joao Neves for an equivalent fee plus add ons…a much better player in most people’s eyes (including PSG’s, evidently).

So given Ugarte had a season where his value on pitch tumbled, Man Utd have every right to stand their ground on their own valuation.

Everyone wants transfers done yesterday but I’d much prefer United stop getting done over on fees than getting a player in for the sake of a few early games. It’s not ideal but it’s the way it is.

🚨💣It is looking increasingly likely that we will sign two more Dutch players and one more ex ETH player. Why?

🔺First of all, I think it is obvious that ETH and Manchester United have a lot of lure with Dutch players. We have reportedly fended of rival interest from PSG, Liverpool, AC Milan and a few other heavy hitters. The players are willing to take a pay cut to come here and play for United and ETH.

If Rabiot, Pavard, Olise and the likes had previous experience of playing for ETH, maybe they would have forced through moves here at a lower salary than what they got elsewhere.

🔺Don't underestimate the 'law of averages'.

As we have seen in Manchester, ETH is extremely good at developing young talent.

His entire 19/20 Ajax team was dismantled after their run to the semi's in the CL. By 21/22, ETH had built a whole new team. That also was dismantled.

In fact, as a result, players developed by ETH have been involved in no less than 12 (!) transfers with a fee over €40m from 19/20 to 23/24.(I am including Alvarez, who depending on the source went for either 38.2 or 40 and DVB who went for a reported fee between 39.1-48).

Over the same period of time, only 102 transfers were made at or above €40m. So this means that roughly 10-12% of the big transfers on the market involve a player developed by ETH player. Between 20/21 and 22/23, it was an insane 1/6.

So if you are a big club buying players, odds are that you will buy a few players developed by ETH. And if we look around Europe, this is of course also the case, Bayern bought 3 (Mazraoui, de Ligt and Gravenberch), Arsenal bought 1 (Timber), Barca 1 (FDJ), Chelsea 1 (Ziyech), Liverpool 1 (Gravenberch), West Ham bought 2 (Kudos and Alvarez), Juventus 1 (de Ligt) -- and so forth.

We have signed 3 expensive ETH players: Martinez, Onana and Antony. That is no more than Bayern. MDL would make it 4.

🔺But how about Dutch players, we are drowning in Dutch players now? Correct me if I am wrong, but last season, Dutch players played exactly 0 (zero) games for us. We had DVB and Malacia, but none played (DvB came on for 2 minutes 1 game).

If we sign Zirkzee, de Ligt and Malacia can return to form -- we would have 3. That is a lot. But Liverpool had 3 last season and will have 4 this coming season. Brighton had 3 and will have 4 this coming season, and so forth.

🔺In addition, it can be added that we want to play up from the back, play with small marginals on the ball, be creative. And it is not a style of football we have played before, and we have quite many players who really have no experience playing this style of football before. Hence, it is important that players that we bring in are comfortable playing that style. If as a starting point, 10-12% of all top transfers are developed by ETH, and you add another "filter" that is like 'comfortable at playing up from the back' -- it makes it even more likely that you would be signing a player developed by ETH.

🔺Of the 9 permanent transfers we have made -- i.e. Antony, Casemiro, Eriksen, Martinez, Malacia, Onana, Rasmus, Evans and Mount -- 3 players have played for ETH before (30%) and 1 was a Dutch player. 6 had zero prior experience playing for ETH. Don't think that is anything extreme.
