The meeting this morning between Horner and the team announcing his departure came as a shock to many in the room in MK. Horner was struggling to hold it together, as he was quite emotional. 20 years building and growing a team from scratch will do that. A career that spanned that long and achieved so much. Yet tumultuous and polarizing due to scandals and political feuds. Be that what it is, the success he had at RBR canโt be forgotten either. Leading the team to 6 constructors and 8 drivers championships as well as 122 race wins, 283 podiums, and 103 pole positions in 395 starts.
He was instrumental in building the team from a โdrinks companyโ that wanted to be in F1, to one of the most dominant teams and seasons in history. But these accolades and successful career achievements will be somewhat shadowed by the unsettled and controversial times as well.
As a RBR fan, I would like to thank Christian Horner for his efforts to bring the team to the heights of success. While I didnโt agree with all of his methods, his work directly contributed to the success they had. And this will always stay in my memories. ๐ฅ
After 20 years with the Team, Christian Horner departs Oracle Red Bull Racing as Team Principal and CEO.
We thank him for his tireless and exceptional work. He has been instrumental in building this Team into one of the most successful in F1, with eight Drivers' Championships and six Constructors' Championships.
Thank you for everything Christian, you will forever remain an important part of our team's history.
From my first race win, to four world championships, we have shared incredible successes. Winning memorable races and breaking countless records. Thank you for everything, Christian!
