Growing up my dad loved fishing. And perhaps 3 or 4 times a year he would spend the day out, enjoying his favorite hobby.
I think he liked the quiet and alone time.
But every time he came back, my mother would be in a bad mood making him feel guilty about being away complaining about all the chores she’d had to take care of and giving him a big list of jobs she wanted him to tackle.
Eventually he stopped going fishing it just wasn’t worth the hassle.
It’s a memory that always makes me feel sad....
