Understanding Financial Asset Rotation (Part 1).
A Timeless Lesson for Every Investor.
Financial assets don't move in a straight line. They move in rotation.
Opportunity > Optimism > Narrative > Euphoria > Correction > New Opportunity .
The asset class changes.
The narrative changes.
The cycle changes.
But the pattern remains the same.
The post-COVID period (2020 - 2026) has perhaps been the clearest demonstration of this timeless pattern.
Like many global equity markets, the Indian equity market also recovered strongly after COVID. Between 2021 and September 2024, however, it emerged as one of the world's best-performing major markets, with countless stocks turning into multibaggers.
The narrative -India being the world's fastest-growing major economy -was true. But as valuations became richer, optimism gradually turned into euphoria, and investors needed to moderate their return expectations.
Market leadership then began to rotate.
Real estate gathered momentum.
Crypto became the next market darling. Narratives such as digital gold, institutional adoption and a new financial system dominated conversations. Retail participation surged. Optimism turned into euphoria before volatility reminded everyone that no trend lasts forever.
Gold then rallied , reinforcing its status as the preferred safe haven asset. Silver followed with even greater intensity. Narratives around AI, solar energy and electrification became increasingly popular. The themes were genuine, but eventually the narrative became larger than the valuation. Euphoria was followed by a sharp correction.
Industrial metals such as copper, aluminium and zinc became the next favourites. Electrification, infrastructure, energy transition and AI-driven demand became the dominant themes. Once again, optimism grew, valuations expanded, and these markets have now started softening.
The AI revolution then created another powerful wave. Technology leaders, semiconductor companies and markets closely linked to that ecosystem -particularly the US, Taiwan and Korea - became the new favourites.
This leadership too will eventually rotate .
Different asset classes. Different narratives. Different cycles. Same pattern. Different outcome for investors.
A good opportunity creates optimism. Optimism creates a narrative.
The narrative attracts more participants. Participation fuels euphoria.
Euphoria is followed by correction. And every correction quietly creates a new opportunity.
@aftabcalm@ArvindKejriwal As expected. When u don't have logic, just shut it down. Stay in your fantasy world. U are actually wasting time of lot of people.
@Awwwchallllll Do a targetted reading - many books centred on a single theme. For example, if you want to study behavioural finance, study many books on behavioural finance. It would help in grasping the subject and helps to build understanding of the concepts. Second, make notes.
"Youth angry over poor civic sense." 😡
He was peacefully walking on the footpath, but a large number of bikers kept honking at him to move aside for an easy pass.
When will people in India understand that the footpath is for pedestrians, not bikes?
The pre-Covid peak of 2019 was 1.09 crore foreign tourists. We are not even able to reach that level again till now. This is despite the rupee sitting at historic lows against the dollar, which should make India a bargain for foreign visitors. But alas, foreign tourists are going elsewhere - despite more airports being built, more flight routes opening, better connectivity than ever. Despite all the "Incredible India" campaigns.
So what's going wrong? Basically everything that actually matters to a tourist.
Start with the e-visa portal. Just google search reviews of the Indian government's online visa process and you will find hundreds of travellers sharing their own nightmares: forms crashing mid-application, payments failing repeatedly, data not being saved, the site randomly displaying a list of India's tallest mountains in the middle of a visa form. You will see that some tourists just gave up and booked somewhere else.
Then when the foreign tourists actually arrive. Good luck getting a local SIM card without jumping through hoops. UPI, which Indians love to flex about, is practically unusable for foreign visitors. Hotels across India are required by law to report the arrival of foreign guests to the police, adding another layer of babu-raj hassle. Scams are rampant at every tourist spot from Agra to Rishikesh, harassment is common, and the less said about public hygiene in most cities the better.
And the hotels in Indian tourist destinations like Goa are completely overpriced compared to equivalent properties in Bangkok, Hanoi, or Colombo.
The irony is, Indians themselves have figured this out. Outbound travel hit a record 3.3 crore trips in 2025, up 21.5% from pre-Covid. The Indian middle class now finds it cheaper to holiday in Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, or the UAE than in Goa or Kerala.
We keep building airports and announcing new routes, but nobody wants to visit a country where the first interaction with the state is a government website that looks like it was coded in 2003 and the last interaction is an overpriced hotel room with subpar service.
Greetings on Mahavir Jayanti.
Because British historians put Buddha and Mahavir in the same slot the antiquity of Jainism which predates Buddhism by several centuries is never acknowledged.
It is one of the world’s oldest religions with 23 Tirthankars who preceded Mahavir
One day, your parents will become your children, not in age but in need.
There will come a time when they forget things you just told them. When they move slower, ask the same question twice, and need help with what used to be easy.
Do not see it as a burden, see it as a debt of love being paid back willingly and lovingly.
Call them more, Visit them more, See them more.
Spend time with them every now n then.
Speak softer while you still can, Because one day the phone will stop ringing.
~ You hate your parents in early age becoz they teach you discipline.
~ In middle age, you love your parents becoz you need the financial support to build your career.
~ In old age, you appreciate your parents becoz they taught you discipline.
Maturity comes with age n experience. Care about your parents!

I wish my school Physics teacher had been as animated & creative…
Bernoulli’s principle would have been far more exciting, & not just one more principle to ‘mug’.
Even in an age of AI, creative teaching will always have a space…

wagarna khauf-e-bad-aamozi-e-adoo kya hai.
Chipak raha hai badan par lahoo se pairaahan,
humari jeb ko ab haajat-e-rafoo kya hai.
Jalaa hai jism jahan dil bhi jal gaya hoga,
kuredate ho jo ab raakh justjoo kya hai.
Ragon mein daudte phirne ke hum nahin qaayal,
jab aankh se hi na tapka toh phir lahoo kya hai.
Woh cheez jis ke liye hum ko ho bahisht azeez,
siwaaye baada-e-gulfaam-e-mushk-boo kya hai.
Piun sharaab agar khum bhi dekh lun do chaar,
ye sheesha-o-qadah-o-kooza-o-suboo kya hai.
Rahi na taaqat-e-guftaar aur agar ho bhi,
toh kis ummeed pe kahiye ki aarzoo kya hai.
Bana hai shaah ka musaahib phire hai itraata,
wagarna shehar mein ‘ghalib’ ki aabroo kya hai. !!
