QB Luke Weaver's transfer from Hawai'i to San Jose State is a move back home near his hometown of Manteca, Calif. (SJSU nearest G5 school) with an opportunity to win starting job.
Also joins a QB room that includes Kapolei's Tama Amisone & Daniel Rolovich, son of Nick Rolovich.
Luke Weaver could be the QB San Diego State needs going forward.
He can use his legs to escape and any designed QB runs he can do but also he might be a better consistent thrower of the ball than we’ve had in years past.

I am extremely appreciative of my time spent in Hawai’i. Thank you to Coach Chang, Coach Arceneaux, Coach Kapanui, and Coach Socha for giving me an opportunity to be a Rainbow Warrior and for developing me as a player and as a man. Thank you to my teammates and all of Hawai’i for welcoming me and making me feel at home for the past year. It has been an unforgettable experience and I have met some lifelong friends and mentors.
After a lot of prayer, thought, and discussion with family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility remaining. I am excited to see what God has in store for my next chapter!

For a #HawaiiFB team that put their faith on display all season, Luke Weaver’s game-winning TD pass to Nick Cenacle to win the @HawaiiBowl over Cal, 35-31, was symbolic for many reasons.
-Christmas Eve game
-Luke Chapter 2 is the birth of Jesus and backup QB Weaver wears No. 2
-@CoachTimmyChang said he had Luke 2:11 written on his play-sheet
“Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.”
I’ve been watching games since 6am.. Luke Weaver can start for many FBS teams. Lot of arm talent.. athletic. Makes quick decisions with the ball.. learns from his mistakes. Excellent game. #HawaiiFB
