I'm rooting for Mark Pope and hope he crushes it here. It feels like a rushed conclusion after missing out on the top targets and it's a poor job reading the room, but that's a Mitch Barnhart criticism. Certainly not Pope's fault.

It's a gutsy call, but one Barnhart's got to own. I'll support Pope and know he'll come in with a chip on his shoulder ready to represent his alma mater well. He knows what winning a national championship means to this program and what it takes. There's value in that.

It's a fresh start for Kentucky basketball and I'm looking forward to that.
