SCOTUS RULES in favor of
Monsanto in Monsanto v. Durnell (Roundup / pesticide labeling)

SCOTUS ruled Federal law (FIFRA) preempts (overrides) state failure-to-warn claims. This means Monsanto cannot be sued in state court for not putting stronger cancer warnings on Roundup labels if the warnings meet federal requirements.

Core Reason (stated in the opinion):

FIFRA (the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) gives the EPA exclusive authority over pesticide labeling.

The law contains a clear preemption clause that says states cannot impose any labeling requirements that are “in addition to or different from” what the federal government requires.

• This would create non-uniform labeling across states and interfere with the EPA’s control.

• The Court said Congress wanted one national standard for pesticide labels, decided by the EPA — not varying rules driven by state juries.

In short:
Federal law controls the label. States (and state lawsuits) cannot force extra warnings that the EPA has not required.

🔻 My Thoughts: The silver lining

It sucks… but I think after reading what Clarence Thomas wrote, this was the correct decision.

Allowing Lawsuits to punish companies AFTER harm occurs— It was essentially a bandaid to fix a much larger problem. The ruling actually highlights that the real power lies with the EPA’s authority to set labels and approve (or ban) chemicals. THIS is the way…

A national standard decided in Washington is better than a messy system where every state jury can force different warnings. This ruling forces MAHA to focus energy on passing stronger federal laws instead of fighting endless state-by-state legal battles.

Denver City Council blocked Denver International Airport from leasing space to Key Lime Air, because the airline worked with ICE.

It violates FAA rules.

City attorney Miko Brown allegedly urged the airport to fabricate an investigation into the airline’s safety record to cover up for illegally discriminating against the airline for political reasons.

When word got out, Brown and Mayor Mike Johnston flat out denied it.

However CBS just obtained an internal airport memo appearing to reveal the entire thing was true.

City officials conspired to discriminate against a private company for political reasons then lied about it to cover it up‼️
