@TomFornelli You don’t have to love the sport, but you should at least watch one college baseball game from the outfield of Dudy Noble Field in Starkville in your life. One of the best live viewing experiences in all of sports.
@KendallRogers@d1baseball Now do State vs. West Virginia using the same plethora of criteria. The metrics and actual wins are overwhelmingly in State’s favor. Doesn’t make much sense outside of recency bias or deliberately including lesser deserving teams/conferences.
@KendallRogers@d1baseball Kendall, please justify USM way up at 9 and State down at 17. RPI? No. DSR? No. Any other NET type ranking? No. Head to head? No. Strength of schedule? No. Q1/Q2… ok. But 10 of their wins are outside the top 50 (only 1 for State) and are we just ignoring their bad losses?
@LFLatMSU If we sweep, we only need one more loss from Auburn and we are the 4 seed (or 3 seed, depending on what Bama does). In your scenario, with Bama losing the last two, we would be the three seed. Pretty sure Bama owns tiebreak over us with common opponents. Florida does not.
@TomFornelli So the traditional 5 vs. 12 Cinderella matchups are basically ruined. Also isn’t it a little unfair (mathematically speaking) that 12 seeds have to beat weaker teams (than 11 seeds) to get in? This is all kinda stupid.
@MartySmithESPN@Lane_Kiffin This is a fairly reasonable explanation of how a flawed calendar was navigated, but no one wants to look at things reasonably today. Too much popcorn value. I love college football.
