First of all arthroscopy is completed into a joint (hence “arth”), not into muscle bulk.

Second of all, they use tiny cameras through an arthroscope. Therefore there would be a small incision.

That doesn’t change the fact that you need to allow more time for the ligament graft to fully heal & ‘stiffen’ so that it can withstand the loads of football

There’s exceptions but athletes are 7x more likely to reinjure their ACL (not to mention other areas due to changed biomechanics) if you return before 9mnths
