Political loyalty is a very funny thing, especially when it is not done for pecuniary gain. It trumps loyalty to friends and even family members. It effortlessly challenges rationality and willingly compromises truth. The comfort of belonging becomes stronger than any self-worth.
Nasir El-Rufai: Twelve Lessons on Why He Must Be Talked About Every Day
There are many lessons to be learned from the political journey of Nasir El-Rufai. His story is a reminder of how power, loyalty, and politics can change over time.
1. He helped install a political protege who was widely considered a serial election loser and unelectable, first as a senator and later as governor. Today, that same person is central to the political circumstances El-Rufai faces.
2. He was a principal actor in bringing to power the federal government that today uses its institutions to persecute El-Rufai, an action widely perceived as politically motivated.
3. He defended the president at Chatham House, answering questions on his behalf, while some of those who criticized and insulted the president at the time are now enjoying positions within the same government, while El-Rufai is in detention.
4. He strongly advocated for zoning the presidential ticket to the South and supported the aspiration of the president who now watches as El-Rufai faces his present ordeal.
5. Many of the people he mentored, empowered, and brought into prominence have moved on with their lives, seemingly forgetting the man, El-Rufai, who opened doors for them.
6. Some friends he once stood by in their moments of greatest need have now deserted him, unwilling to be publicly associated with El-Rufai.
7. Interestingly, some who suffered from his policies while he was in power are now among those expressing solidarity with him because they believe El-Rufai’s present treatment is unjust.
8. Some of his former mentees who once defended virtually everything he did while he was governor now condemn El-Rufai and portray his entire record in office negatively.
9. Political allies who were once expected to stand by him have abandoned him, with some allegedly aligning with those who are now El-Rufai’s sworn political enemies.
10. His political capacity and intellect helped strengthen the ruling party and contributed to its rise to power. Today, the same ruling party appears scared to see El-Rufai regain his political freedom as another election approaches.
11. After disagreeing with some of his kinsmen while working to bring the present government to power, he now faces a situation in which the establishment is playing politics with his bail conditions through the hands of the same kinsmen El-Rufai fought against on its behalf.
12. His achievements as governor were once used by the ruling party in the state to campaign for votes. Today, the same ruling party appears determined to downplay or rewrite El-Rufai’s legacy.
These are the reasons Nasir El-Rufai will continue to be talked about. Beyond politics, his story offers enduring lessons about power, loyalty, betrayal, sacrifice, and the unpredictable nature of political relationships.

They are discussing using nuclear weapons on Iran in strategy meetings.
Yes you read that correctly. It’s real. I’m not speculating, I know.
And it’s pure evil.
The last time a nuclear weapon was used was August 6th and 9th of 1945 on two cities in Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, immediately killing 110,000 people, vaporizing people at ground zero, and total deaths reached 214,000 by the end of the year from severe burns and trauma.
But the extreme suffering continued for the Japanese people from radiation sickness, skyrocketing cancer rates, and generational birth defects.
Not to mention wiping out all means of their economy.
And the suffering was so great that all of humanity vowed, “never again.”
Trump and his admin were told by our own intelligence that Iran was no where near creating a nuclear weapon, then Israel said the same line it’s repeated for decades, “Iran is only weeks away.”
So we bombed anyways, killed their leaders and innocent little children in a school, and Iran has controlled the Strait of Hormuz ever since and punished the region for their part in it.
And now our government is the one actually discussing lowering the nuclear threshold in order to use nuclear weapons against Iran even though Trump claims he’s won the war like 40 times and says the U.S. controls the SoH.
Trump promised no more foreign wars, but may actually be the one who delivers a nuclear holocaust that would likely drag the entire world into major conflict, economic depression, and mass human suffering we’ve never seen in our lifetimes and maybe throughout history.
People need to speak out and boldly stop this insanity.
America is not untouchable.
If and when that happens, everyone, and I do mean everyone, will hold ALL of those in leadership right now fully responsible for the rest of human history.
Do not use nuclear weapons and stop this war NOW.
@kayodebakre8@IU_Wakilii@elrufai The likes of Hadiza bala, Hadiza balarabe, Baralabe Abbas,Sani Dattijo and many. who have become what they are today through Mallam Nasir Elrufai. Are conveniently dining and enjoys all the paraphernalia of power while Mallam remain a political prisoner Speaker Abbas inclusive.
How former beneficiaries of Malam @elrufai can conveniently unlook injustice meted out to Mallam needs to be studied. His adversaries are the ones pointing it out that this is blatant injustice.
But his circle, his former men, his mentees, the many youths he helped - Silence
Earlier this week, before the news broke, we informed senior members of former Nigerian Vice President @atiku's team about the Tinubu delegation's meetings with the @StateDept and communicated the sentiment from the U.S. perspective: a lot of discussion about nothing, excuses, and futile attempts to have President @realDonaldTrump host President Tinubu at the @WhiteHouse.
Here are the facts: The United States will continue to work with Nigeria on shared interests, but no Nigerian delegation will convince the U.S. government to throw its support behind President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT), who is an alleged heroin trafficker. Not now. Not ever.
Note: Based on strict official protocol seniority recognized by the United States and Nigeria, the #Tinubu government delegation would ordinarily be led by Nigerian Foreign Minister Bianca Ojukwu (@Ojukwu_Bianca) and met at the corresponding level by Secretary of State @SecRubio. The fact that the Nigerian government's PR spin presents National Security Adviser @NuhuRibadu as leading the delegation and highlights a meeting with Allison Hooker, one of many Under Secretaries of State, communicates an unspoken but diplomatically significant message about the level at which the #Trump Administration received Tinubu's delegation.
We have a message for President Bola #Tinubu: You can send the entire Nigerian government next time, but we will continue to work to ensure that it does not change the reality in DC. The United States will continue to engage Nigeria and work together where our interests align, but President #Trump has made clear that he is not going to endorse or personally support an alleged drug trafficker for President of Nigeria in Nigeria's upcoming presidential election.

Former Governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the @ADCNig, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai @elrufai, has spent 178 days in detention for parting ways politically with President Bola Tinubu’s ruling @OfficialAPCNg while Senator Francis Fadahunsi is walking freely and yet-to-be arrested after calling on members of his own party to kill members of the Accord. Even as el-Rufai is being detained, high profile members of Tinubu’s APC, who are standing trial for corruption were cleared and are running for election! What other evidence do you need to confirm that Tinubu is waging a war against the OPPOSITION and not CORRUPTION.
UPDATE ON MY MAI SUYA: I have now found them. Apparently, someone came to buy N15,000 suya from them. He was their last customer and had bought up all the suya they had left.
When the guy was about to enter his car, armed robbers collected his keys and drove the car away. My mai suya guys were completely unaware of what had happened because, strangely, the guy never even came back to them to say that any such thing had happened.
It wasn’t until they set up the next day to start their business that they were arrested and detained on the allegation that they must have colluded with the armed robbers.
Their phones were sent to the DSS for analysis to check whether there was any communication between them and anybody leading up to the carjacking. There wasn’t.
The good news is that the guys have now been released because, apparently, the car has now been found. Their phones have yet to be returned by the DSS though.
Following their release, they asked the Police whether they could resume at their old spot and the Police advised that they wait until the DSS releases their phones and the matter is fully resolved. They have, therefore, set up temporarily on Bala Sokoto Way. They had lost business for 10 days and were already looking emaciated.
I asked if they needed a lawyer and they said they didn’t think so right now. They were empathetic to the guy that had been robbed of his car and were pleased that it had now been recovered. Thank you to @egi_nupe and @PwettyFeet who offered free legal services should they need them.
Unknown to me, there are neighbours I didn’t even know were on Twitter who have reached out to express their concerns, on the basis that they have been part of our community for years. We all, therefore, agreed that we would raise a little money to help them get back on their feet.
I went to look for the DPO today but he wasn’t there. I’ll go again tomorrow to ask about their phones.
They are out and back to striving to make an honest living. And no, I didn’t buy Suya today. That wasn’t the purpose.
Don’t Ignore Red Flags in Your Circle
In your circle, do not ignore red flags just because you’ve known someone for years.
Familiarity is not character. History is not loyalty. And friendship should never be an excuse to overlook dishonesty, manipulation, envy, disrespect, or repeated bad behaviour.
Sometimes the biggest danger to your peace, progress and reputation is not an enemy—it’s someone you keep defending because they are “your person.”
Pay attention to patterns, not promises. When the red flags keep waving, stop pretending you don’t see them.
If it were an opposition member who threatened to kill people, by now the @PoliceNG would have locked the person up and thrown the keys into the Atlantic.
We have two laws in Nigeria: one for APC members and another for ordinary citizens.
We are so cooked.
It may not bother some people, but the continued detention of @elrufai is not about justice; it is political vendetta. It is easy to look the other way because he is not your headache, and perhaps because you don’t consider him a nice person. But that is exactly how oppression works, it becomes acceptable when the victim is someone we dislike. Once injustice is tolerated against one person, it becomes easier to use it against everyone else. #FreeElRufaiNow

What is the color of your hypocrisy Mr Rufai? Your hypocrisy stinks. It oozes out so bad that the world can now see you for who you are.
Here is Mr. dachomo calling our own Allah, our creator, a demon. What did you say to it?
That is how one GrandMaster or what do they call him came to Uncle Mindset’s space last night and wanted to gaslight us. I was very happy I put him in his place.
Do you people think we are daft? Or is it because we chose the silent path? Why are you using different scales to measure people? The level of outrage is always measured by the religion of the person speaking.
If you want fairness, you have to call out the extremism on all sides. It cannot be a one-sided activism where you only find your voice when a Muslim is involved.
Condemn the reckless rhetoric from Christian clerics with the same energy you use to drag Muslim clerics.
Until you can hold everyone to the same standard, please spare us the fake objective outrage. Hypocrite.
