레드벨벳 웬디, SM Classics(SM 클래식스) 첫 오케스트라 콘서트 협연 무대 선보여

SM엔터테인먼트(이하 SM)가 클래식&재즈 레이블 SM Classics(SM 클래식스)의 첫 오케스트라 콘서트를 성황리에 개최하며 창립 30주년을 화려하게 장식했다.

‘SM CLASSICS LIVE 2025 with 서울시립교향악단’(SM 클래식스 라이브 2025 위드 서울시립교향악단)은 2월 14일 서울 예술의전당 콘서트홀, 15일 롯데콘서트홀에서 양일간 진행됐으며, SM 창립 30주년을 기념해 국내 클래식의 중심지에서 펼쳐진 전 세계 최초의 K-POP ���케스트라 콘서트라는 점에서 더욱 특별한 의미를 지��다.

특히 이번 콘서트는 지난 2020년부터 SM 대표곡을 오케스트라 버전으로 편곡해 선보여온 SM Classics의 음악적 도전이 결실을 맺는 순간이자, 그동안 음원으로만 접할 수 있었던 곡들을 서울시립교향악단(이하 서울시향)의 수준 높은 연주로 감상할 수 있는 기회인 만큼 K-POP 팬들에게도 잊지 못할 특별한 경험을 선사했다.

샤이니 민호의 오프닝 내레이션으로 시작된 공연은 보아, 동방신기, 슈퍼주니어, 소녀시대, 샤이니, 엑소, 레드벨벳, NCT, 에스파, 라이즈까지 SM 아티스트들의 명곡이 오케스트라 라이브로 이어졌으며, 14일 공연에는 무대 벽면을 가득 채우는 미디어 아트 연출이 어우러져 곡의 몰입도를 배가시켰고, 15일 공연에는 레드벨벳 웬디가 협연자로 무대에 올라 솔로곡 ‘Like Water’, ‘When This Rain Stops’를 풍부한 감성과 뛰어난 보컬로 가창해 관객들을 완벽히 매료시켰다.

이어 앙코르 곡으로 레드벨벳 웬디의 솔로 2집 수록곡인 ‘Vermilion’과 SM의 상징곡인 ‘빛 (Hope)’을 오케스트라 버전으로 선보이며 뜻깊게 마무리된 이번 공연은 SM이 지난 30년간 쌓아온 음악적 헤리티지를 통해 K-POP의 무한한 확장 가능성을 보여준 것은 물론, 계속해서 다양한 방식으로 음악 팬들에게 다가갈 SM의 포부까지 느낄 수 있는 자리였다.

이에 SM Classics 문정재 대표는 “SM Classics의 음악을 관객분들에게 오케스트라 라이브로 직접 들려드릴 날을 손꼽아 기다려왔다. 이번 서울 공연을 시작으로 전 세계 음악 팬들에게 SM Classics의 콘서트를 선보일 수 있도록 노력하겠다”, 서울시향 정재왈 대표는 “각 분야에서 최고의 자리를 지키고 있는 서울시향과 SM이 지난 5년간의 협업의 결과를 선보이게 되어 감회가 새롭다. 클래식 팬들은 물론 K-POP 팬들까지 다 함께 즐길 수 있는 공연이 되어 기쁘다”고 남다른 소회를 전했다.

한편, SM Classics는 공연·악보 IP 라이선스 사업을 본격적으로 선보이며, SM Classics만의 오리지널 IP를 전 세계에 확산해 나아갈 계획이다.
