The Green Legacy Initiative stands as a powerful testament to what a nation can accomplish when its people come together with a shared purpose and collective resolve, guided by the spirit of Medemer.
Today, alongside dedicated staff from the Prime Minister’s Office, we proudly participated in a tree-planting campaign as part of this transformative national endeavor.
Over the years, the Green Legacy Initiative has turned once-barren mountains into thriving green landscapes, revived dried springs, and restored vitality to lands that had long suffered from degradation. These achievements represent more than environmental progress; they are a profound affirmation of our commitment to stewardship, sustainability, and the well-being of future generations.
The impact of Green Legacy extends beyond ecological restoration. It has generated significant economic opportunities, strengthened climate resilience, and elevated Ethiopia’s standing on the global stage. In doing so, it has laid a strong foundation for our nation’s successful bid to host COP32 and to contribute meaningfully to the global climate agenda.
This remarkable achievement reflects the vision, dedication, and collective effort of our government and our citizens. It is a source of immense national pride and a shining example of what Ethiopians can achieve when united by a common purpose.
This year, we have set an ambitious goal: to plant 8 billion seedlings across our country. Let us rise to this challenge together. Let us plant, nurture, and protect these seedlings, knowing that in doing so, we are investing in a greener, more prosperous, and more sustainable future for generations to come.

Science and technology are the foundation of our sovereignty and a pillar of our prosperity.
To accelerate Ethiopia’s structural transformation, we have made science and technology a central driver of economic growth and national development. Guided by a clear education policy, the government is committed to building a skilled, innovative, and productive workforce.
Today, we attended the graduation ceremony of the 2018 E.C. class at Adama Science and Technology University a proud milestone as these young engineers and innovators begin a new chapter of contribution and creation.
Our science and technology universities must serve as centers of innovation, conducting research that addresses national challenges and developing solutions suited to our context. Adama Science and Technology University’s achievements in this regard are highly commendable.
Ethiopia’s educated youth carry a historic responsibility to advance creativity, scientific excellence, and innovation. Their contribution will be essential to overcoming challenges and realizing our vision for digital transformation and sustainable development.
The government will continue to support science and technology graduates and foster an environment where research, innovation, and talent can thrive.
Ethiopia’s 7th National Election marks a key democratic milestone. EU Ambassador Sofie Emmesberger said the high turnout and late-night queues reflect citizens’ strong commitment to their country.
