@Jenny_1884@Keir_Starmer He's an accidental PM.
He took over to 'fix' the Labour party after the Corbin period, not really expected to win an election, but the Tories at that time were so uninspiring that they handed it to him on a plate.
@Rodrigo00852376@PhysInHistory His work is certainly a cornerstone of modern scientific method. Perhaps the 'science crowd' and 'philosophy crowd' have different influence priorities, although there is noticeable overlap.
@LeoBorealis@Tom_Rowsell Not really, as linguistic evolution can be tracked independently of location. However the available clues are usually linked to specific locations, so it allows us to tie the two together.
@StpdMcStupidson@Tom_Rowsell@KarlRadl Also, because there are fewer/no written clues further back in time, extrapolation is used based on an understanding of linguistic drift. e.g. we have a certain understanding of a hypothetical proto-Indo European.
@StpdMcStupidson@Tom_Rowsell@KarlRadl Grouped by 'evolutionary' linguistic stages, with an attempt to correlate to time/location. However that correlation can be difficult as clues sparse. Often useful to regard the stages as 'snapshots' to help determine branching, e.g. common origins of modern/historic languages.
@lefineder Looks like pseudo-cash before cash where everything had a price in terms of 'standardised' bread/beer. Though I wonder how that was applied to everyday shopping, as perishable cash is of limited use.
